We EQUIP Communities for Better Living

Make your community a better place! Communities are strengthened when all members, including youth, are actively involved. The Training Institute EQUIPs communities with the resources and supports to build healthy places and opportunities for youth to serve. These trainings foster youth/adult partnerships, engage and empower youth, families, schools, congregations, law enforcement, media, business and local government, and more.


Involving Young People on Decision-Making Boards
Learn how to engage youth as partners, leaders, and decision-makers.
Based on Youth on Board’s 15 Points for Successfully Involving Youth in Decision Making, this session takes organizations and communities, step-by-step, through the process of involving young people on boards and councils.
Time: 3 hrs.


Strategies for Youth Involvement
Research and experience shows youth are a valuable resource, providing insight and leadership to initiatives that affect them. In this session participants will:
  • discover youth as valuable resources in their communities,
  • explore the different levels and forms of youth involvement,
  • leave with ideas of how to implement a plan for youth involvement.
  • Time: 3 hrs.

Building Better Communities Through Teen Leadership
This fun interactive session leads both youth and adults to:
  • discover opportunities for youth to take more leadership roles,
  • implement frameworks for youth involvement,
  • tap into the talent that youth bring to their community.
  • Time: 3 hrs.

Building Community Collaboration
The Training Institute provides meeting facilitation for community initiatives that wish to build capacity and strengthen the way that they work together. Participants will:
  • address strategic elements to create safe and healthy communities,
  • find ways to share resources,
  • identify gaps in services,
  • gain insight to equip youth for school, life and work.
  • Time: 3 hrs.

Teaching Social Skills to Youth
Young people today are faced with an increasingly complex world and many youth are unprepared. Based on a Boys Town Program, this research-based, results-oriented model is youth focused and provides:
  • tools and tips for teaching social skills to youth.
  • Time: 3 hrs.

Helping Teens Unmask Sexual Con Games
Based on a Boys Town Program, Unmasking Sexual Con Games, this training session helps parents and communities provide youth with the information and skills that they need to avoid unhealthy and harmful relationships.
Time: 3 hrs.


Connecting with the Digital Natives
Youth today have never known a world that isn’t always connected and always online. Participants will learn:
  • an overview/context of how digital immigrants (us) can connect with the digital natives (youth),
  • how youth and adults interact with this world differently,
  • to see what teens are doing online,
  • the skills needed to be a mentor, role model and model responsible online behavior.
  • Time: 3 hrs.
