We EQUIP Health Professionals with Best Healthcare Models

The Training Institute provides support to Kentucky Child Now’s Mental Health Initiative with the goal of improving the integration of medical, mental and behavioral health care for children and adolescents in Kentucky. We EQUIP health professionals with knowledge on children’s mental health issues, help strengthen the referral and communication process between professionals, and eliminate barriers to children’s mental and behavioral health services.

Attention-Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder
This online course provides information to medical providers responsible for diagnosing and treating children and adolescents with Attention-Deficient-Hyperactivity Disorder and coordinating primary care and mental health care.
Time: 3 hrs.

Childhood and Adolescent Mental Health Disorders
This training is designed to address ways to help physicians, nurse practitioners, & other medical providers better serve the needs of children and adolescents with mental and behavioral disorders. Participants will gain:

• information on pediatric disorders, such as depression, aggressive behaviors and mental health screening,
• information on medication management, ADHD Medication Strategies, etc.
• Time: 2 hrs

Integration of Medical/Mental Health
Designed to address ways to better serve the needs of children and adolescents with mental and behavioral health disorders, key elements to this training include:

• recognition of mental/behavioral health problems in the clinic setting,
• screening of mental/behavioral health and substance abuse in the primary care setting,
• skill development to enable successful engagement of families,
• patients and networking opportunities and resources.
• Time: 4 hrs.
